After the Rush

Santa's long gone, the gifts are all open,
The kids are off playing, while mom and dad are hoping,
The upcoming year will be a good one
For all their family, friends and loved ones.
With fun to be had and stories to be told,
No one is worried about getting another year old.
They'll go on sleigh rides and drink hot cocoa to stay warm.
Then red hearts and a diamond will a relationship transform.
Green clovers and beer are a tradition
Just like colored eggs to be found by kids on a mission.
Cinco de Mayo is a big party day
Just as it is for seniors on graduation day.
Red, white and blue and sparkles galore,
Give way to the dog days of summer and more
School starts again, a brand new year
Goblins and witches everyone will fear.
A big meal and parade for all to share,
Brings us back to needing Santas and elves to employ.
